Photography by Jan von Holleben from Does This Happen to Everyone?, Copyright Little Gestalten 2018 Now, how to create photos for a book like this that aren’t obscene or too childish, yet are fun and attention-getting? This is where Jan von Holleben’s photography comes into play by combining photos with graphics to give enquiring minds just enough information to get them thinking while not going too far. This book follows a similar format to That’s What You Think ( see our review here), with the author, Antje Helms, gathering up some of the most pressing questions children have about puberty and love, and then answers 70 of them honestly and straightforward using age-appropriate vocabulary and scenerios. This book is aimed at children 11 years and up, and that’s only a few months away for us- yikes! Little Gestalten kindly sent me a copy of their book, Does This Happen to Everyone? A Budding Adult’s Guide to Puberty, and I’ve been reading through it so that I can know what’s between the covers (of the book), and think of ways I may speak about the topics with my children. In anticipation of the day this topic will arise, I have been preparing with a book called, Does This Happen to Everyone? For many topics where the children want to learn more I can simply direct them to look up their interests on the internet…but this is definitely one area where that will NOT be happening as the internet is full of very inappropriate information and images. But I can’t keep my head in the sand they will continue to grow and mature, and I must be ready to introduce the birds and the bees to them as I am both their parent and their teacher.

First of all, let me just say that I’M NOT READY for my children to grow up yet I can’t believe a decade has gone by already in the blink of an eye.
